Yvonne B. Acey

Central Area Director

 

Yvonne B. Acey, MEA President from 2006-2008, and an association member since 1989.    Previously she taught English,  Reading, Creative Writing, Speech, and African-American Literature at Northside High.

Ms. Acey received a B. A. in English/Humanities from LeMoyne-Owen College and a Master's of Education in Special Education and Rehabilitation from The University of Memphis.  Additionally, she has completed Certification in Administration and Supervision and 90 hours in Doctoral Studies.

Ms. Acey has been an Association Representative for 10 years and has been in education for 35 years.  She is the Associate Director of the Africa In April Cultural Awareness Festival and has served as President of Women In Education.

Ms. Acey was appointed to the Shelby County Election Commission and has attended several Democratic National Conventions.  Additionally, she has served as a delegate to numerous TEA & NEA Representative Assemblies.
