Bertha Louisa DeLapp, "Bert" as she prefers to be called, serves as North Area Director and has been a member for 35 years.  Bert teaches Early Childhood Education Careers at East Career & Technology Center.  She is also an adjunct professor of Early Childhood Education for Southwest Community College, Memphis, TN.

She attributes the Association as saving her professional career many times!  Working in the Association is a vital part of her professional career.  Bert loves Association work!  Since attending her first NEA RA, she has had a passion for ESPs and working with and for them.

Her involvement in the Association includes:  North Area Director; Professional Rights & Responsibility Committee; Human Relations Committee; ESP Committee; IPD Committee; Building Dedication Committee, Bargaining Committee; State & Local Leadership Academy; State Resolutions Committee; State Credentials Committee; Alternate to NEA Resolutions Committee; Welcoming Committee for Dr. Carol Johnson; and School Calendar Committee.

Ms. Delapp holds a BS and MS from Memphis State University and a Masters + 45  from Trevecca Nazarene College.  Bert has one daughter, Tammarra, with whom she travels the world.
