Jerrian Harris has been elected to serve as Vice-President of MEA and is currently teaching at Charjean Elementary.  She has been teaching for 25 years and has been a member of MEA for 25 years.

She has a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Tennessee at Martin and she has completed 30+ hours in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership and she is working on a Master's of Science degree in Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Memphis.

Ms. Harris has been a North Area Director for MEA; M-PACE Chairperson; Bargaining Team Member; Membership Recruiter; National Teacher Day Chairperson and PASS Chairperson.  Her leadership with TEA includes NEA Concerns Committee, Minority Affairs Committee and Credentials Committee.  She as been a TEA delegate 13 times and a NEA delegate 9 times.  She has also had the distinct honor of receiving Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2003 and 2005.

She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. 2nd Vice President, secretary for the Tennessee Urban Education Association Council (TUEAC) and University of Tennessee at Martin Alumni Council.

As an educator and Association leader, I believe when a team of dedicated individuals makes a commitment to act as one...the sky is the limit.  Great things will happen for our students as well as for all stakeholders when we work collaboratively to make a difference in the lives of children through public education.
