Michael J. Fox is currently serving as a Mental Health Professional on the MEA Board of Directors. In addition Mr. Fox has been a member of MEA for nine years and has been an Association Representative and a TEA delegate. Mr. Fox started his career as a classroom teacher for 12 years and 2 years as a Social Worker. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education, Crichton College, Memphis, TN and Master's of Social Work Tulane University New Orleans, LA. He has received the following awards: Memphis Recovery Center Meritorious Service Award, Congressional Youth Leadership Council Honorary Commission. He is also a member of Tennessee Association of School Social Workers. I have worked as a Mobile Crisis Worker, a Pediatric Medical Social Worker at LeBonheur Children's Medical Center, Family Therapist and Shift Supervisor at Memphis Recovery Center's Youth Development Program, Lakeside Behavioral Health System as a Needs Assessment Counselor, School Social Worker, and have almost 12 years of classroom experience in Memphis City Schools. I have served on site based leadership terms, discipline committees, textbook committees, school improvement teams, and SACS teams. This eclectic repertoire of professional experiences allow me to bring a variety of perspectives to the table that will empower me to ardently advocate for teachers, students, and mental health professionals in our school community. I look forward to working collaboratively with the board and its members. |
