MEA scholarships help members and
their dependents
The MEA Scholarship
Program is becoming an important benefit to more and more MEA members.
MEA awarded scholarships to 60 dependents of our members for the 2005 -
2006 school term and 53 scholarships for the 2006-2007 school term.
These scholarships are made possible through the Association Legal Scholarship
Program (ALSP). To be eligible for an MEA scholarship, the
applicant must:
- be a
legal dependent of a member of the Association;
- attend a public institution of higher
learning in Tennessee during the following school year;
- plan on becoming a teacher; and
- complete the application in full.
Scholarships are awarded in May of each year
and dispersed during August. Applications will be distributed to the Association
Representatives in each school. To obtain an application, see your Association
Representative or call the MEA Office at 454-0966, ext. 30.
ATTENTION: Completed applications for the
2007-2008 school term must be
received at the MEA Office by Thursday, April 3, 2008. Anyone who
has received an MEA Scholarship previously, MUST reapply each year and it is the
applicant's responsibility to obtain an application!
